Community members are now able to have a say on their preferred name on the future Pakenham North West Primary School (interim name).
The final decision on the school’s name will then be made by the Department of Education.
The names put forward for consideration are:
Option 1: Kore Primary School
Kore (pronounced kor-ee) is a Bunurong word for kangaroo
Option 2: Wooruk Primary School
Wooruk (pronounced war-uk) is a Bunurong word for frog
Option 3: Pilligerin Primary School
Pilligerin (pronounced pilli-gerin) is a Bunurong word for autumn

The new primary school, which is expected to be open by term 1 in 2025, is taking shape along Thewlis Road in Pakenham.
When open in 2025, the school will include:
an administration building
a learning neighbourhood
hardcourts
a carpark
a sports field
A community hub will also be built.
Zania Cope was also appointed as the future principal, who has worked in several leadership and principal roles spanning 33 years.
The school will open for enrolments for students in Prep to Grade 6. It will be able to enrol up to 525 students when the first stage of the school is complete.
