No hiding from airwing

At approximately 3:00am on Friday April 27, 2024 Cranbourne police were patrolling along Casey Fields Boulevard, Cranbourne East when they attempted to intercept a BMW sedan that failed to stop.

The police airwing was in the area at the time and was able to track the vehicle at excessive speeds onto the South Gippsland Highway, Clyde Five Ways Road, and Ballarto Road.

Police members from Pakenham were successfully able to deploy stop sticks on Koo Wee Rup Road.

The vehicle continued to travel with deflated tyres to an address on Redgum Circuit, Pakenham where the driver abandoned the vehicle and ran on foot.

The police air wing quickly directed ground units into the area and a 43-year-old Pakenham man was taken into custody.

He was subsequently charged with: reckless conduct endangering life; drive at a speed dangerous; use unregistered motor vehicle; unlicensed driving; fraudulent registration plates; possess drug of dependence; possessing a prohibited weapon and handle stolen goods.

The accused was subsequently bailed to appear at court at a later date.
