Crackdown on speedsters

Operation Amity saw local police sting a number of dangerous drivers across four days from Thursday 25 January to Sunday 28 January.

For the Cardinia Police Service Area officers detected:

32 speeding offences

10 drug drivers

3 drink drivers

7 seatbelt offences

9 unregistered vehicles

8 disqualified drivers

However, promisingly there were no mobile phone offences.

Statewide, police detected 2,261 speeding offences, with three quarters of those detections for speeding between 10km/h and 25km/h over the speed limit.

A total of 5,206 traffic offences were detected during the operation.
