Flying colours

From superheroes to insects, Berwick’s skies were filled with a wide range of unusual sights, thanks to this year’s Kite Festival.

Organised by The Bright Events, the event was the fifth running of the festival, with between 3000 and 4000 people flocking to Berwick’s Federation University campus to launch colourful kites into the air, with kites and threads available to purchase on the day.

The event also featured an all-day live DJ, jumping castles, a variety of food and all-day entertainment.

Event organiser Manthan Parikh said despite overcast weather, the atmosphere in the crowd was a positive one.

“It was a good experience,“ he said.

“Getting into the fifth year is very exciting and we are growing every year.“

Gazette photographer GARY SISSONS was on the ground to capture the fun throughout the afternoon.
