Citybound lanes closed on Princes Freeway this weekend

The citybound lanes of the Princes Freeway will be closed through Pakenham all weekend, as upgrade works take place.

All citybound lanes will close between Healesville-Kooweerup Road and McGregor Road from 7pm on Friday 15 December to 5am on Monday 18 December.

Detours will use Racecourse Road and the Princes Highway to the north or Southeast Boulevard to the south.

Motorists should plan ahead and expect delays of up to 30 minutes.

The works were originally scheduled for the weekend of Friday 24 November to Monday 27 November but were postponed due to unfavourable weather conditions.

While lanes are closed, crews will remove and replace the existing road surface to strengthen the asphalt in preparation for additional freeway lanes.

According to the State Government, conducting the works over a full weekend means the work can be completed sooner.

The first stage of the Pakenham Roads Upgrade project will add traffic lanes and upgrade freeway interchanges at McGregor Road and Healesville-Kooweerup Road to reduce bottle necks and provide improved traffic flow and better connections for the growing area.
