Pakenham Consolidated School celebrated art and expression on Monday 23 October with their first ever school art show.
The afternoon saw up to 200 students sticking around after the day of school to make their own little pieces of art.
The school choir kicked things off for the art show, where the students would then spend the afternoon working with a range of materials and forms from illustrations, origami and clay sculpting to craft materials.
Children’s book illustrator Marjory Gardner was invited to run a session on illustration were she helped the students with their creative expression.
Each year level participated and were tasked with making a collective display showcasing a renowned festival across the world.
Nicole Jones, visual arts teacher for Pakenham Consolidated was pleased to see the first art show was such a success.
“I would like to thank the parents, children and the school for making the show what it was, it was very exciting to see the turn out and the families and school come together,” she said.
The art show’s winners will be drawn at school assembly next Monday.
