Hundreds of community members joined Orchard Park Primary School families in celebrating its inaugural spring carnival on Saturday 14 October, where rides, food trucks, market stalls and face painting filled the school grounds.
A giant slide, chair-o-plane and rock climbing wall were fan favourites among young ones, while senior students put their economic leadership skills to work balancing the books at market stalls.
Orchard Park Primary School principal Nathan Jagoe thanked the school’s Parents and Friends group and local business sponsors for their support in running the event.
“The weather wasn’t the best but it was a great turn out, we had lots of community involvement and the main thing is lots of kids had lots of fun and families connected as a community,” he said.
Mr Jagoe said he hopes to see the carnival event become an annual or biannual event for the school, which opened in 2021.
“As a new school we are still looking to build what traditions look like for us and our community, but this is a great starting and we hope to come back bigger and better next year.
“Coming out of Covid we are looking to create those community opportunities for us to connect and it was lovely to see our whole neighbourhood and local community get involved, not just families from our school.”
