Celebrating Indigenous stories

Local kids were invited to learn and celebrate Indigenous culture and language on Bunurong land in Pakenham, as part of the school holidays.

Held on Monday 25 September at the Pakenham Library, the event was led by Mark Brown and Danny West from Bunurong Land Council, as well as artist N’Dene Riley.

Mark and Danny led the Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony, with subsequent activities including story time and mural painting.

N’Dene led the local kids with the mural painting, while Pakenham Library conducted story time, all of which celebrated and inform about the culture and language of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.
