Elderly entertainment on its way

Casey’s senior citizens are encouraged to enjoy new experiences and engage with the community they live in as part of this year’s City of Casey Ageing Positively Festival.

Held throughout October in conjunction with the Victorian Seniors Festival, the month-long celebration will include more than 100 events and activities to choose from, including Seniors Big Dance, an ABBA tribute show, information sessions, art workshops and drag queen Brenda Bressed hosting a Drag Bingo event.

Casey Council administrators chair Noelene Duff PSM said the council commended its senior citizens and the community groups which support them for their dedication to promoting active and healthy ageing in Casey.

“On behalf of the City of Casey, I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and commend the outstanding work of the community groups, volunteers, neighbourhood houses, community centres, and senior support organisations,” she said.

“We are deeply grateful for your unwavering commitment.”

The festival also includes plenty of community events and activities, such as a Seniors Expo and Farmers Market, a dementia support program at The Old Jetty Café in Tooradin, sports programs and tours.
