Have your say on Lang Lang artwork

The community is invited to have their say on a proposed artwork in Dick Jones Reserve, Lang Lang.

Community input will inform if there is interest for the proposed installation of a horse sculpture at Dick Jones Reserve, Lang Lang in homage to Lang Lang’s rodeo history.

The proposed artwork aims to nurture a sense of community and shared history whilst also being a destination piece to encourage visitors to spend time in the town and contribute to Lang Lang’s economy.

Cardinia Shire Council is hosting a pop event Friday 18 August from 11am to 12pm at Dick Jones Reserve to answer questions and gather feedback.

Council previously engaged with the community in 2020, receiving positive feedback in support of public artwork in Lang Lang.

This feedback was used to decide details of the artwork including the location and reference to Lang Lang’s rodeo history.

The artwork was postponed due to some challenges including COVID-19, and the passing of Councillor Ray Brown who was a strong advocate for the project.

Now with the opportunity to deliver the project, council would like to re-explore the community’s interest for the artwork.

Cardinia Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Tammy Radford, encourages community members to give their feedback.

“We want to hear from you about this exciting new proposed public artwork,”Mayor Radford said.

“We are committed to listening to our community to create engaging, appealing and harmonious public spaces through art projects across the shire.”

Feedback is open now until Monday 4 September.
