Rotary embraces antique fair

Hundreds of antique items will fill the stalls of the Cardinia Cultural Centre next weekend, with the return of the The Pakenham Antique and Collectables Fair.

The 18th annual fair is fully booked with 38 antique, collectable and curiosity dealers from all over Victoria and is expected to be attended by more than 1000 eager buyers and collectors.

It is the first year the event will be run by the Rotary Club of Casey, who have taken the reins from previous organisers Coosje and John Dubach.

All proceeds from the event will go towards Rotary supported charities, Rotary Club of Casey treasurer Paul Rubens said.

“We’re feeling confident but nervous – you always do when you’re running something new like this,” he said.

“We hope we can make it interesting and a good day for all… we’ve got 38 vendors and about 50 stalls.”

Melbourne-based antique valuer David Freeman will be in attendance to value items at $5 per item, excluding stamps, coins and jewellery.

Visitors are requested to bring a photo of larger items that they would like valued.

An entry fee for browsers, collectors and shoppers is just $5.

The fair will be open to the public on Saturday 29 July from 9am to 3.30pm.
