Residents in Cardinia Shire will soon be invited to take part in a Liveability Survey, to help inform the steps towards creating a more liveable community.
Six thousand households have been randomly selected to participate in the survey, to ensure representation of urban and rural areas, and a variety of household types.
Cardinia Shire Council is conducting the survey from May to June, to monitor the progress of work based on Cardinia Shire’s Liveability Plan 2017 – 2029.
The Plan has 7 long-term goals; improve mental health and wellbeing, improve social cohesion, improve safety, improve healthy eating and active living, reduce family violence, improve financial wellbeing and resilience and lastly reduce harm from alcohol, tobacco, drugs, and gambling.
“The vision of the Liveability Plan is a liveable, resilient community where the environment flourishes and residents are healthy, included and connected,” said Cardinia Shire Mayor, Councillor Tammy Radford.
“We’ve been tracking research and publicly available data to monitor how we’re going – but real insight and value will come when we hear from the community.
“It will add richness to our understanding of how the community is going and allow us to prioritise efforts to improve liveability in Cardinia Shire,” said Councillor Radford.
Survey responses are anonymous, monitoring progress of the Cardinia Shire Liveability Plan is a requirement of the Victorian Government under the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008.
