Love in the air in Pakenham

Pakenham lovers have inundated local florists to spoil their partners on Valentine’s Day.

14 February is one of the busiest days of the year for Flowers on Main Pakenham, located on Main St.

They estimated they had 2200 roses to make into beautiful bouquets for Valentine’s Day.

Florist Bree Murphy said the shop prepares at least a month in advance for the big day.

“We get in extra early, we work extra days and extra hours,” she said.

On the morning of Tuesday 14 February, Pakenham Florist had already delivered 40 bunches of flowers, and sold over 100 bouquets in store.

Roses are the most popular choice and men the most common customer, Bree said.

James Gilbert was looking for a bouquet of tulips for his partner Sarah to celebrate her Dutch heritage.

“I love her for her loving nature and how good of a mum she is,” he said.

Jack Witheridge said although Valentine’s Day was just another day, he wanted to make his partner Stephanie feel special.

“Shout out to Stephanie, I love everything about her – she makes me laugh and smile,” he said.
