Plane flips during French Island landing

A man has been injured after a plane flipped on its head while landing on French Island on Saturday, 21 January.

It is understood the plane took off from Tooradin airport on Saturday afternoon with one pilot and two passengers on board.

It was reportedly in the air for nine minutes before it landed and flipped on French Island just before 2.30pm, 9 News reported.

A man in his 60s was injured in the incident, suffering cuts to his legs, but he was in a stable condition and was flown to the Royal Melbourne Hospital, 9 News reported.

The exact cause of the incident is unknown at this stage, Victoria Police said.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau will conduct an investigation into the incident.
