My Place turns 10

Cardinia Shire Council is gearing up to celebrate a special milestone – 10 years of providing services from Pakenham’s My Place Youth Facility.

Council’s Youth Services Team is inviting all young people, aged 12 to 25, to join in the upcoming festivities.

A birthday party will mark the special day on Friday 2 September at My Place, 5 Main Street in Pakenham and will run from 4pm to 7pm.

All young people (aged 12 to 25) are invited to join in the festivities.

The event will include live music, a petting zoo, giant games and giveaways and, of course, a gigantic birthday cake.

Cardinia Shire Mayor Jeff Springfield is looking forward to celebrating with young people at the birthday party.

“This birthday party marks a very special occasion – it’s a decade of what encouragement and hard work can achieve for our young people,” Cr Springfield said.

“I wish a big happy birthday to My Place and all of the wonderful people that run it and use it.”

Henty Ward Councillor Carol Ryan said she was hoping to see as many young people as possible enjoy the fun at the birthday party.

“The build of our brand-new ‘Cardinia Youth Hub’ is also progressing nicely, and I’m overjoyed that there will be more places for our young people to connect and receive support,” Cr Ryan said.

Organisations who provide services to young people will also attend to join in on the fun, as well as provide information about what is available to young people in the shire.

My Place is a drug, alcohol, vape and smoking-free zone.
