$250 energy saving payment open to all Victorians

All Victorian households can now claim the state’s flagship cost of living support measure, a $250 bill-busting Power Saving Bonus, by visiting the Victorian Energy Compare price comparison website or engaging with a community outreach partner.

From Friday, 1 July, a new $250 Power Saving Bonus payment became available to all Victorian households, including more than 400,000 concession card holders who claimed under the program’s previous phase.

Premier Daniel Andrews said the payment will provide immediate relief to all Victorian households.

“This includes any of the more than 400,000 eligible concession card holders who claimed during a previous round – placing $500 directly into the pockets of some of the most vulnerable Victorians this year,” Mr Andrews said.

The bonus is available to access at any time in the next 12 months and there are no limits or caps on the number of households that can receive the once-off payment, one payment per household.

Narre Warren South MP Gary Maas said he encourages households in the area to take advantage of the offer.

“Victoria is at the forefront of the changeover to renewable energy with set targets to reduce greenhouse emissions and investments to build the infrastructure we need to power our future. All while supporting people with their bills today,” he said.

The quickest way to apply is through the Victorian Energy Compare website at compare.energy.vic.gov.au.

Victorians can also call the VEC helpline on 1800 000 832 or receive support from community outreach partners Good Shepherd – Neighbourhood House, Consumer Action Law Centre, Ethnic Community Council, Brotherhood of St Laurence, and State Trustees.

Households that previously claimed a $50 or $250 Power Saving Bonus are eligible for this new one-off payment.

Separately, Solar Victoria offers households and businesses discounted solar panels, batteries and efficient heating and cooling. For more information, visit Victorian Energy Saver:
