The 1st Koo Wee Rup Scout Hall has officially re-opened its doors after receiving a much-needed $125,000 safety and access upgrade.
Works included external cladding replacement and installation of an external window, kitchen refurbishments and improvements to restroom facilities.
Bass MP Jordan Crugnale said the upgrade meant the Scouts would have a more modern facility to call home.
“This investment is such great news for our Koo Wee Rup Scouts, giving them a more spacious, modern and accessible facility for their programs and where they can grow their group
too,” Ms Crugnale said.
The investment is part of the State Government’s 2018 election commitment of $5.5 million over four years to build, upgrade or refurbish 23 Scout Halls across Victoria.
Funding is matched by Scouts Victoria, bringing the total investment to $11 million.
Scouts Victoria is one of the state’s largest youth organisations and has a membership base of more than 20,000 young people and 5000 adult volunteers.
The number of young people participating in scouting activities has grown by 30 per cent in the last 10 years.
