Green grants up for grabs

Cardinia Shire community organisations are getting the chance to secure grants of up to $5,000 for sustainability programs, events, or initiatives set to benefit the local community.

Applications are now open for Lendlease’s Local Green Champions grant program with $20,000 available to the Cardinia Shire.

Applicants must show how their ideas support their community on the topics of waste reduction and recycling; growing and sharing food; caring for country and promoting healthy waterways; protecting local biodiversity; sustainable resource use; promoting sustainable transport; or sustainability education.

Lendlease head of communities Anne Jolic said the funding will empower groups to deliver the type of projects they know will help create a cleaner and greener greater Melbourne.

“Our Local Green Champions grant program is one of the many ways we are encouraging our community groups to share their ideas on sustainable living and help bring these to life across our Lendlease masterplanned communities,” Ms Jolic said.

Applications opened on Sunday 5 June to coincide with World Environment Day and will close on Friday 15 July.

Successful applicants will be announced in early August.

To apply, visit cia.communityenterprisefoundation.com.au/ and select the relevant Lendlease project or contact the Community Enterprise Foundation on 1300 304 541.
