Cardinia woman in embankment crash

A Cardinia woman has had a lucky escape after she crashed off an embankment in Glen Forbes.

Police were called to Dalyston-Glen Forbes Road after reports a single vehicle had crashed and rolled down an embankment around 7.15am on Monday 13 June.

A spokesperson for CFA said while the driver was able to extract herself from the car, the steep embankment caused her to fall a further 30m with the car teetering over the edge.

Working alongside Victoria State Emergency Service, Fire Rescue Victoria, Ambulance Victoria and Victoria Police, the car was safely secured before crews were able to assess the patient and using a high angle system, retrieve the patient where she was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Victoria Police noted that the patient’s seatbelt probably saved her life.

She was taken to hospital with minor injuries, police said.

Anyone who witnessed the crash, or with dash cam or information, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online at crimestoppersvic.com.au.
