Local blokes are invited to attend Deep Creek Golf Club for a free night out with AFL legend Doug Hawkins and Phillip Island Football Club senior coach Beau Vernon.
Guests can enjoy a free parma’ and listen to the two inspirational men talk about how to stay mentally healthy, as well as the importance of looking out for mates.
An football player of 350 games, Doug Hawkins helps improve men’s wellbeing through his involvement with the Western Bulldog’s Sons of the West program which focuses on healthy eating, physical activity, and mental health.
Beau Vernon was left with C5-C6 quadriplegia following an incident in a game of AFL.
Beau has since made a name for himself as a sensational motivational keynote speaker and talks passionately about inclusion, disability awareness and stepping outside comfort zones to live the best life possible.
The Master of Ceremonies for the event will be local police sergeant Danny Hower.
Those who attend also have the opportunity to work on their golf game before the guest speakers present by securing an interactive golf masterclass led by coaches from Deep Creek Golf Club at 5pm, with dinner starting at 6pm.
Cardinia Shire Mayor Councillor Jeff Springfield said stressful events can impact the community’s mental health.
“It is important to learn about mental health and how to look after our mates, especially in recent times with storms, bushfires, and a pandemic,“ Cr Springfield said.
