Rythdale road upgrade starts

Works are starting to seal the entire length of McGregor Road in Rythdale as part of  Cardinia Shire Council’s $25 million Better Local Roads – Strategic Sealed Roads project.

Sealing will occur along the entire length of McGregor Road, on Soldiers Road from McGregor Road to Hobson Road, and on Hobson Road from Ballarto Road to Soldiers Road.

Works will include road pavement construction, kerb and channel construction, drainage works and signage, guardrails and line markings.

Cardinia Shire Council Mayor Jeff Springfield said the project played a significant role in building a better Cardinia Shire.

“The Better Local Roads – Strategic Sealed Roads Project is creating strategic links to existing sealed roads where they’re needed most, and where they’ll deliver benefit, such as here in Rythdale,“ Councillor Springfield said.

Westernport Ward councillor Kaye Cameron said the community was looking forward to the project.

“This project will provide excellent sealed road links between existing sealed roads,” Cr Cameron said.

“It’s a high-traffic area and I know the community is looking forward to the sealing being completed.

“I’m excited to see that works have started, and I’d also like to thank the Westernport Ward community for their patience during the works.“

The project will see more than 1500 tonnes of recycled glass used in the crushed rock pavement, decreasing the amount of quarried materials that need to be included in the pavement.
