A P plate driver has lost his Mercedes after a joy ride went wrong in Officer, Wednesday 9 February.
The P2 driver took off at a fast rate of speed after spotting a marked police vehicle around 8.30pm, police said.
Speeding past shops and back streets, he lost control on Cardinia Road and was lucky to avoid a collision.
Police said he ended up facing the wrong way in the middle of the road before he was intercepted by members of Cardinia Highway Patrol.
The 23-year-old’s vehicle was impounded for 30 days and he will receive a summons to explain his actions to a Magistrate.
