Top hot spots for pet lovers revealed

The Lost Dogs’ Home has revealed the top 2021 hot spots for Victorian pet lovers, with thousands of total adoptions taking place over the past year.

Data, taken between November 2020 and November 2021 from the Home, showed Victorians were prepared to travel far and wide to find their special companions with adopters coming as far as Macedon, Swan Hill and East Gippsland.

**There were 115 total adoptions in the Hume municipality, while 69 animals found their forever homes in Whittlesea.

The City of Melbourne had the highest number of overall adoptions with 507, followed by Casey (427) and Moreland (332).

The Home’s spokesperson Suzana Talevski said the results were a credit to Victorians everywhere.

“Almost 5000 animals have been adopted this year,” she said.

“That means a second or third chance at a happy forever after for so many vulnerable and abandoned animals.

“Victorian’s are a passionate community of animal lovers and we are extremely grateful for that.

“Congratulations to everyone who took in one of our beautiful animals and made a wonderful change in their lives.”

In regional Victoria, the top three performing areas were Greater Geelong (65), Macedon Ranges (19) and Nillumbik (18).
