The Pakenham Consolidated Primary School held their final assembly for the year on Thursday 16 December, and it was a joyous occasion for all in attendance, especially thanks to a unique performance.
Students from the school’s Auslan Choir gathered at the front of the hall that afternoon to lead their teachers, peers and parents through the national anthem – with sign language of course.
Watching the whole school community joining in with a sea of hand gestures and song was a beautiful and touching moment, and shows that school assembly’s have come a long way in the past decade or two!
The camaraderie and inclusivity on display at the school was heartwarming to say the least, and we hope to see the Auslan Choir doing more performances about town in the near future.
