New station works begin

Works have begun on the long awaited new Pakenham train station, bus interchange and extension of the metro track.

Bass MP Jordan Crugnale shared the news on Facebook on Thursday 11 November, stating the works are part of making Pakenham level crossing free by 2023/24.

“Excavation works and site facilities for the 750 strong workforce that will work on our level crossing removal project is underway,“ she said.

“The project will build a new Pakenham Station, bus interchange and extend the metro track by 2km. Level crossings will go at McGregor, Main and Racecourse Roads and create new community open space for all to enjoy.

“There will be changes to taxi bays and accessible parking at Pakenham Station, and the southern car park will be closed at the station until 2024. There is alternative parking available in the northern car park at Pakenham Station on Railway Avenue.“
