Vaccine rates in Pakenham are flagging behind the state average, as the township finally reaches 45 to 50 per cent of its eligible residents being double vaxxed.

Weekly data released Wednesday 13 October for the period of 6-11 October shows the postcode 3810, which encompasses Pakenham, Pakenham Upper, Pakenham South, Rythdale and Kooweerup North, had increased its percentage of double vaxxed residents from 40 to 45 per cent last week.

However, the area is trailing behind the state average, which was sitting at 62 per cent double vaccinated as of 15 October.

Postcodes which include towns of Emerald, Beaconsfield Upper, Dewhurst, Lang Lang, Caldermeade, Monomeith, Tonimbuk, Iona, Bunyip are tracking the best for double doses in Cardinia Shire, all averaging 60 to 65 per cent.

3984 (Lang Lang, Caldermeade) has the highest first dose percentage of the shire, with 95 per cent to 100 per cent.

Despite being one of the leading postcodes last week, 3814 (Garfield, Cora Lyn, Garfield North and Vervale) has plateaued on first dose vaccinations, remaining at 85 to 90 per cent from last week, though has increased its second dose average to 55 to 60 per cent, from last week’s 50 to 55 per cent.
