College science takes off

By KATHRYN BERMINGHAM

SCIENCE classes at Officer’s Heritage College will be held in state-of-the-art facilities after the opening of a new science wing this week.
Students, staff and invited guests officially marked the opening with a ceremony at the school last Monday 15 February.
La Trobe MP Jason Wood officiated by unveiling a plaque acknowledging the Federal Government’s contribution to the project.
He was assisted in cutting the ribbon by Mr Mark Hansen, who was school principal during the construction process, and primary and secondary school captains Priya, Damien, Mackenzie and Daylan.
Also in attendance was current principal Mrs Ronda Belson, members of the Board of Directors and representatives from Adventist Schools Australia, Adventist Schools Victoria and the school council.
Pastor Faye led the school in a Prayer of Dedication over the building, the students who will learn there and the staff who will teach there.
Students, staff and invited guests were led in singing the national anthem by ELC students and the senior choir.
The new precinct consists of two science labs, a prep room, chemical storeroom, foyer and office. It will be used by students from Year 7-12 for chemistry, biology and physics.
