CHRISTMAS donations have been flooding in for a low-profile support service feeding those less fortunate in the Pakenham community.
Community Cookup Pakenham dishes out a two-course hot meal to locals in need every Monday night at the Pakenham Seniors Centre.
The Good Guys in Pakenham recently did their part, donating hampers filled with toys and food items to the support service group ahead of Christmas.
The goods will be distributed among up to 80 people that need some cheer in the celebration season.
Dan O’loughlin from the Good Guys presented the gift to Michelle Span from Community Cookup Pakenham on Monday 14 December.
A self-described “born and bred Pakenham” man, Dan admitted he did not know the service was available to people in the community.
“Honestly, I wasn’t even aware that it was there. It was a bit embarrassing for me … a born and bred Pakenham guy,” he said.
The Good Guys in Pakenham chose to focus their Christmas donation efforts to the support group after it was identified in the store’s Local Giving Program six months earlier.
