Theft hot spot

By ANEEKA SIMONIS

POLICE received 10 theft reports involving cars parked across Cardinia Shire in the past week.
Between Monday 9 November and Sunday 15 November, police received reports of seven thefts from motor vehicles.
Three sets of registrations plates were also stolen from cars in the area during the week.
Police believe at least three of the incidents occurring in an Officer residential estate were related.
They occurred in close proximity to each other overnight between Tuesday 10 November and Wednesday 11 November.
Cardinia Crime Investigation Unit (CIU) analyst Christine Wilde said two of the vehicles were parked in a residential driveway at the time of the incident, while the other was parked on the street.
All cars were reportedly secured, however police reported finding no signs of forced entry to the cars.
Thieves stole small portable items including wallet, headphones, CDs and glasses.
It was a significantly quieter week than the last – with police receiving 16 theft from motor vehicle reports along with two attempted thefts between Monday 2 November and Sunday 8 November.
The reports include four registration plate thefts.
Ms Wilde said the majority of the incidents happened in new residential estates located north of the Princes Highway and west of Cardinia Road in Officer.
