Tigers to take on Hawks at Beacy

By ANEEKA SIMONIS

THE mighty Tigers are set to play against Hawthorn in a game not to be missed in Beaconsfield ahead of next year’s footy season.
In a Cardinia Shire first, Richmond Football Club will take on Hawthorn Football Club at Holm Park Recreation Reserve in Beaconsfield on Saturday 27 February.
Tigers Club President Peggy O’Neal said the players are thrilled to kick off the season in strong Tigers territory.
“Richmond has terrific support in the south-east of Melbourne and we are sure our fans, and the broader community, will enjoy the chance to watch elite-level football in their own backyard,” she said.
The AFL NAB Challenge Game will be held in the shire as part of Council’s partnership with the Richmond Football Club.
Cardinia Shire Mayor Leticia Wilmot said it’s been fantastic to see the club being so active in the south-east, having visited the shire for training days and leading wellness programs for young locals.
The game is expected to kick off at 4.40pm on Saturday 27 February.
“Grab the kids, grab a picnic rug and enjoy the rare opportunity to see some of the big names in footy playing at your local oval. We hope plenty of our residents take advantage of this chance to see the ‘Tigers’ in action,” Cr Wilmot said.
