BMX boost: tired tracks renewed

By KATHRYN BERMINGHAM

RESTORATIONS to three Pakenham BMX tracks have recently been completed by Cardinia Shire Council.
Tracks located on Atkins Road and at the Homegarth and Gowler Street reserve all underwent renewal works, as well as a track at Greenland Court Reserve in Garfield.
The works were funded under the council’s capital works program, which allocated $25,000 to upgrade and repair local BMX tracks in 2015/16.
The council’s open space co-ordinator Kevin Alexander said council recognised the important role served by BMX tracks.
“The council is aware of the great benefits our open spaces provide the community and will continue to ensure they are open to be used to their full capacity,” he said.
“Regular maintenance of bike paths, walking tracks and other recreation spaces will remain a priority for the council.”
The restorations mean that all 10 of Cardinia Shire’s BMX tracks have been renewed in the last year.
