THE Pakenham United senior side are not the only team riding high atop an FFV ladder with the under-14 boys also having a taste of the good life in first place.
The under-14 Cougars, which won the league in 2014 before losing in their finals campaign, have continued their exceptional form in 2015 to find themselves clear on top of their competition with one round left in the regular season.
Battling it out in Football Federation Victoria’s Boys South Under-14C competition, the Cougars rallied after a couple of losses to league rival East Bentleigh Strikers threatened to derail their chances.
They’ve fought back and gone on a four-game winning streak to storm up the ladder – currently two points clear of East Bentleigh with a whopping plus-41 goal difference.
United only needs to draw, or preferably win, against Casey Panthers on Sunday to give the side – coached by long-time Pakenham/Cardinia United soccer mainstay Mark Dunn – its second league pennant in as many years and a chance to battle it out in the upcoming regional finals.
The Cougars kick-off at 12.30pm at Prospect Hill Reserve in Narre Warren.
