Smash for quick cash and credit purchases

By ANEEKA SIMONIS

POLICE have tracked down a number of fraudulent transactions made from a credit card stolen in Pakenham last week.
Overnight between Wednesday 19 August and Thursday 20 August, offenders smashed the window of a car parked in Pakenham, taking a wallet containing cash, credit cards and a motorbike bag containing about $2500 worth of apparel.
The credit card has been used on at least three occasions on the night it was stolen in the Pakenham area, according to the police.
The theft incident was one of nine reported to Pakenham police between Monday 17 August and Sunday 23 August.
According to police, there were another two theft incidents in Pakenham along with one in Beaconsfield, Officer and Bunyip – each occurring overnight.
During the same time period, police received three reports of number plate theft occurring in Pakenham and Kooweerup.
One week earlier, seven incidents of car theft were recorded by police – the majority of which also occurred in Pakenham.
Police urge drivers to lock their cars at all times and keep valuables out of sight.
