IF you’re a Richmond fan living in the Cardinia Shire, you’re in luck – this weekend you will be able to watch the Tigers game at the MCG for free.
As part of the Richmond Football Club’s partnership with Parklea and Cardinia Shire council, the club will offer free general admission tickets to Cardinia residents for its match this Sunday 16 August.
The Tigers Round 20 clash against the Gold Coast will commence at 1.10pm.
Richmond CEO Brendon Gale said the offer was a move to engage with Cardinia Shire residents, who formed a large part of Richmond’s following in the South East.
“We’re thrilled to offer all the residents of Cardinia Shire, not just Richmond supporters, a chance to see the Tigers in action at our home ground, the MCG,” he said.
“We hope to have a great take-up on our offer. There’s nothing better than a day at the football with your friends and family.”
Mayor Leticia Wilmot said the partnership brought with it many benefits for the shire.
“So far this year, the club has hosted an open training day and a coaches and club development session in Cardinia Shire, and delivered its excellent Tiger PAW (Physical and Wellbeing) program into two Cardinia Shire schools,” Cr Wilmot said.
“This free ticket offer is a fantastic opportunity for Cardinia Shire families to enjoy an afternoon at the footy for very little cost – especially given public transport in Melbourne is discounted every Sunday.”
Cardinia Shire residents can claim up to two adult and six junior tickets each by registering at www.richmondfc.com.au/Cardinia. Each person who registers must provide proof of Cardinia Shire residence when collecting the tickets.
