By ANEEKA SIMONIS

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following reports of a suspicious fire in Pakenham earlier this week.
Between 8.30pm and 9.30pm on Sunday 28 June, police received a report of a fire burning alongside a fence on Martingale Place.
Police said the flames, located on parkland facing the Homegarth Playgroup, reached up to a metre, leaving the grass and fence charred.
Cardinia Crime Investigation Unit’s Detective Senior Constable Michael O’Neil said the fire was set with twigs and branches.
Youths are believed to be responsible for the attack.
The matter is under investigation.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
