Family charity calls for business help…

PAKENHAM businesses are being called on to help provide the basics of life for struggling families.
Operations manager for 4Cs Abiola Ajetomobi said soap, personal items and meat were at the top of the list for people who simply can’t find any more money to make it through each day.
With winter starting to bite, the need for life’s staples is becoming more urgent for charitable organisations such as 4Cs.
A possible solution is greater involvement from local businesses which may be able to donate surplus material or excess stock that could be passed on to the needy.
“Local support from business is something we can always do with,“ Ms Ajetomobi said.
“We are very grateful for everything we already get but we would be happy to have a conversation with any business people to see how we could work together.“
Ms Ajetomobi said the cold start to winter is being felt hardest by those who struggle to put a roof over their heads.
“We have a lot of people at the moment who are living out of their cars, which is even harder when it starts to get cold.“
Local schools have got behind 4Cs in recent times, with generous donations of canned goods from local schools.
Beaconhills College collected an amazing 5833 cans for 4Cs, while Chairo Christian School donated more than 1000 items.
Ms Ajetomobi said the efforts of the school communities was overwhelming and would help make a difference to the lives of many people.
“4Cs would like to thank the community for their donation so far, it’s such a great feeling to know we are not alone,“ she said.
“With over 900 families utilising our services on a weekly basis, receiving help like this goes a long way to assisting those in need,” she said.
Anyone who would like to donate can visit www.givenow.gov.au/cccc or phone 5941 2268.
