THE Pakenham Racing Club hosted its first Member’s Raceday at Racing.com Park, Tynong, on Tuesday with the nine-race card attracting some of the biggest trainers in the state.
Leading trainers Darren Weir and Robbie Griffiths tasted success while the early Highweight races gave regular jumps jockeys the chance to chalk up a victory on the flat.
Trainer Ciaron Maher, who was fresh of a win with Srikandi in the $2 million Stradbroke Handicap at Doomben on Saturday, struck first when Royal Moment saluted in the first race on the card.
Jockey Paul Hamblin then partnered the Jackson Pallot-trained Hezacrusier to a dominant seven-length victory in the second before Weir and Griffiths stamped their class on the program.
Other races at Racing.com Park in June are the APM Group Raceday on Friday 19 June, the Thursday Raceday on Thursday 25 June and the End of Financial Year Raceday on Friday 26 June.
