CASEY Cardinia region pushed for new business investment at last week’s National Manufacturing Week showcase.
National Manufacturing Week from 26 to 29 May is the largest conference in Australia for the manufacturing industry and attracted more than 10,000 visitors and 300 exhibitors.
A Casey council spokeswoman said more than 25,000 workers with specific skills in manufacturing left the Casey Cardinia region to go to work every day.
“It is a priority for the City of Casey and Shire of Cardinia to create job opportunities for residents closer to home,” she said.
Both councils used their presence at National Manufacturing Week to promote the area to prospective businesses looking to expand or relocate.
Six local manufacturing businesses also exhibited alongside the councils as ambassadors for the region.
Among them was Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame Small Manufacturer of the Year winner Australian Precision Technologies (APT), from Berwick.
