Rider evades police

By ANEEKA SIMONIS

AN OFF-ROAD motorcyclist spotted riding dangerously on Pakenham roads without proper safety equipment is being pursued by police.
At 11.30am on Monday 4 May, a Cardinia Highway Patrol member saw a man who appeared to be aged in his late teens to early twenties riding an orange off-road KTM motorcycle north along Ahern Road.
Constable Paul Stanley, who spotted the rider, said he began following the off-road biker who then sped off into a connecting street, dangerously weaving in and out of traffic.
He estimated the man was travelling around 100km/h in the 50km/h zone.
The man was not wearing a helmet or protecting clothing.
Police suspect the bike, estimated to cost around $10,000, may have been stolen.
The rider may face charges related to dangerous driving and riding with an unregistered bike.
The man has been described as late teen to early adult, Caucasian, of a thin to average build with short brown hair.
Anyone with information about the bike or rider are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
