THE Berwick Woodworkers Club is one of many activity groups in Casey that could share in $750,000 of State Government funding made available to build new Men’s Sheds across Victoria.
Narre Warren MP Luke Donnellan on Tuesday confirmed that grants of up to $60,000 are now available for men’s groups to build new facilities.
The funds may be used to construct a new Men’s Shed, redevelop an existing building into a Men’s Shed, or co-locate a Men’s Shed in a multi-function community facility.
“Men in the local community have constructed new networks via men’s activities programs such as the Berwick Woodworkers Club and I encourage all local men’s activity groups to apply for a grant,” Mr Donnellan said.
“By encouraging local men to roll their sleeves up, the Berwick Woodworkers Club has seen them build friendships and serve the local community.”
Applications that demonstrate significant partnerships and support from relevant community groups – such as the local council, neighbourhood houses or adult-learning providers – are encouraged to apply.
Applications for the grants close on 19 June 2015, for more information visit www.dhs.vic.gov.au/for-business-and-community/community-involvement/men-in-the-community/mens-sheds.
