Bullants, Lions bask in glory

By DAVID NAGEL

KOOWEERUP may have stolen the show with a stunning fourth win in six years in the WGCA Premier Division but Officer and Pakenham were the standout clubs on grand final weekend.
The Bullants and Lions were the only clubs in the WGCA to win three premierships, the Bullants were triumphant in F Grade, under-15 and 13s, while the Lions struck gold in both C and E Grade while their under 17s proved themselves the best junior side in West Gippsland.
Officer’s Garry Tivendale and Pakenham’s Dave Nobels were the outstanding individual performers for their sides, with Tivendale making a gritty 105 against the Lions in F Grade, while Nobels’ 27 overs of toil were rewarded with match-winning figures of 7/66 in the Lions’ E Grade victory over Devon Meadows.
