Close watch on finals’ drink

CASEY police have warned the community against the illegal consumption of alcohol ahead of this year’s DDCA cricket finals.
It comes as an increased police presence is expected at all games.
It’s understood police are particularly concerned about the serving of alcohol to people under the age of 18, and clubs serving alcohol outside the perimeters of their licence without first making an application for a booth licence.
Police are also warning people against infringing on a council by-law that restricts them from consuming alcohol in public places including parks, gardens and sporting ovals.
Any club official that wishes to discuss any of the issues raised above should contact Sergeant John Blackburn at Endeavour Hills Police Station on 9709 7666, or by email at john.blackburn@police.vic.gov.au.
