THE police helicopter and dog squad were involved in dramatic scenes in Pakenham yesterday afternoon.
Three men were arrested following a pursuit along Racecourse Road that ended in Bald Hill Road around 3pm.
Acting Senior Sergeant Graeme Stanley said a 27-year-old man from Wonthaggi was charged with traffic offences, careless driving and evading police.
Two Pakenham men, aged 30 and 23, were arrested after a foot pursuit near Bald Hill Road following the short police chase from Racecourse Road.
Both have been released without charge.
The Wonthaggi man was found hiding in bushland near the Bate Close industrial estate by a police dog.
Acting Sen Sgt Stanely said the pursuit began after the man failed to pull over during a routine intercept.
“It was in a side street off Racecourse Road, a routine police intercept for roadworthy checks, but they failed to stop,” he said.
Police were stationed around bushland on the edge of the industrial estate near Bormar Drive around 3.30pm yesterday waiting until the dog handlers arrived to flush the wanted man out.
The Wonthaggi man has been bailed to appear in court at a later date.
