Out with the old

RE: News article ‘Injured in Attack’ (News, 22 January).
I am writing in reference to the above and would like to take issue with a 64-year-old being described as ‘elderly.’
I am 65 and most of my friends around the same age. We’re fit, active and lead very busy lives and definitely don’t consider ourselves ‘elderly.’ Maybe a ‘word of advice’ to the ‘young journalist’ regarding age education. Haven’t you heard that 60 is the new 40?
I wonder what the lady in your article thinks of being labelled ‘elderly’? Hopefully future articles on 64-year-olds will be more discerning.
I trust she will make a full recovery and the cowardly perpetrator is apprehended.
