Choir going places

By LACHLAN MOORHEAD

THE Casey Choir is calling for potential new members to put their hand up to be part of the group for 2015.
The all-female choir has grown from a membership base of 15 to 50 in just a few years and is once again opening its doors.
Choir member Marlene Lawrence encouraged new members to join up, indicating the notable benefits of being part of such a group.
“Group singing is cheaper than therapy, healthier than drinking, and certainly more fun than working out,” she said.
“It is the one thing in life where feeling better is pretty much guaranteed.”
Ms Lawrence also spoke of the opportunities provided through the choir, including the chance to travel across Australia and the globe.
“Quite a few members are travelling overseas to sing in Europe during 2015,” she said.
“Other members of the choir will travel to Sydney to sing in a Mass choir at the Sydney Opera House.”
The Casey Choir, based in Berwick and led by Simon Loveless, enjoyed a memorable 2014, with several performances at the City of Casey Citizenship ceremonies and a performance at the inaugural Berwick Carols by Candlelight rounding out the year.
