Silverbacks powered by Jetts

THE future of local gridiron is in safe hands. For the past few months, it’s been plain to see for all who have gone and watched the junior Pakenham Silverbacks play.
And on Sunday, in their season finale, they gave another taste of what’s to come – forcing local rivals the Berwick Miners to rise to new heights to topple them.
Berwick led 8-6 after a hard-fought, physical opening but the Silverbacks then forced a turnover at the 10-yard line and ran it 90 yards home for a touchdown to take a stunning 12-8 lead.
From there, they just refused to let up – boosting their offensive game to take the points with a 26-12 win.
The Silverbacks just missed out on playoff berths for both their seniors and juniors in 2014, but the club is in great shape in more ways than one – locking in a crucial major sponsor for next season, Jetts Pakenham.
