Girl dies after Hume smash

A SIX-YEAR-OLD girl from Narre Warren has died after a tragic crash on the Hume Freeway last week.
Police are currently investigating the collision in which a white Mitsubishi Pajero four wheel drive, carrying six Narre Warren occupants, hit a green and white Isuzu horse carrier on Thursday 23 October.
It’s believed the four wheel drive was travelling south on the freeway at Locksley, north of Seymour, when it blew a rear tyre, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
The car is then understood to have rolled several times before hitting the horse carrier, which was also travelling south.
Three girls, an adult female passenger and the male Mitsubishi driver were flown to the Royal Children’s Hospital with serious injuries.
The six-year-old girl died at the hospital on Friday 24 October.
The sixth Mitsubishi occupant, an adult male, accompanied the group to the hospital.
The driver of the horse carrier, a 46-year-old Pakenham woman, was not injured.
Anyone who witnessed the crash is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or make a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
