Teeing off for a good cause

By RUSSELL BENNETT

THE Lioness Club of Berwick will hold a special charity golf day at the Pakenham Golf Club on 14 November.
The event will help the Lioness Club’s Relay for Life team raise much-needed funds for cancer research through the Cancer Council of Victoria.
The club is urging as many people as possible to get involved, and they can do this by either entering the event at $65 per player (including a buffet lunch), becoming a corporate sponsor for a hole with the company’s signage or banner taking pride of place on a tee box for $200, making a tax-deductable donation, supplying prizes for winners of competitions and raffles, and/or displaying advertising material for the event in local premises.
The Casey Relay for Life event will be held from 14 to 15 March next year.
Anyone and everyone is welcome to come along for the golf day with prizes awarded for nearest the pin and longest drive.
Most importantly, non-handicap players are also most welcome.
The event of 14 November will be in the format of a ladies’ and gentlemen’s 18-hole individual stableford with registrations from 8.15am and a shotgun start from 8.45am.
The cost of $65, includes a buffet lunch at the end of play and there’s a $20 discount for Pakenham Golf Club members. Drinks will be available at bar prices. Golf carts are also available for the event.
To register for four, or as an individual, call 5941 4083. Entries close on 7 November.
