Mayor heaps praise on Scouts

By KATELYN PINAL

THE Pakenham Scout Group assisted Cardinia mayor Graeme Moore in welcoming new citizens at the Cardinia Shire citizenship ceremony last month.
In a long-running partnership, the Scouts presented the new citizens with a native Australian plant as a welcome gift as well as the Aboriginal, State and Australian flags to the mayor.
Joining them this year was Italian exchange student and Scout Greta Rosellini.
Cardinia’s Youth Citizen of the Year and Scout leader Adele Mepstead gave a speech about the importance of volunteering for the new citizens.
Cr Moore could not speak more highly of the Scouts.
“It was the best thing I have ever done as mayor. Having the Scouts at the ceremony was wonderful. It is such a good thing,” he said.
The flag raising ceremony was also a huge success, according to Cr Moore.
“The Scouts are so reliable. Having them at the flag ceremony was a huge success.”
