Show to celebrate

By BRIDGET COOK

ENJOY a day out with the family as the Doveton Show celebrates its 10th anniversary this year.
The Doveton Show has been providing a family-friendly, low cost alternative to the Royal Melbourne Show for nine years and this year is no exception.
The event will be held on Sunday 21 September at Myuna Farm with plenty of entertainment and activities for people of all ages to enjoy.
Show president Pam Lewis encouraged everyone to head along and enjoy the festivities at the very special community event.
“The unique setting of the farm enables access to a variety of farm animals including sheep, alpacas, deer and cattle,” she said.
“The ever-popular animal nursery houses guinea pigs and rabbits, along with baby animals such as kids, lambs and piglets.
“Alice the camel, the new addition to the farm, will also be there.”
Ms Lewis said the show’s extensive entertainment would provide something for everyone.
“The day will feature cultural performances, activities and stalls run by local groups and organisations, sheep shearing, art and craft stalls and much more,” she said.
“Doveton Show has a range of rides to suit the whole family including thrill rides for the older teenagers and adults and family rides for children.
“Amusement rides and exhibitions will be in abundance.”
The Doveton Show will be held on Sunday 21 September between 10am and 4pm at Myuna Farm, 182 Kidds Road, Doveton.
Entry to the event is by gold coin donation and all rides and activities are available at a low cost or are free.
All money raised goes into supporting future shows.
Visitors are encouraged to walk or catch public transport because only disabled parking is available onsite.
Parking is available at Betula Reserve, which is opposite Myuna Farm, or and Robert Booth Reserve next door.
